Welcome to my website. In the coming months you’ll be able to view photographs of the custom cabinetry and furniture I’ve built for my friends, neighbors, family, and myself.
I love creating furniture in the Arts & Crafts style. Some people know this as Mission style furniture. The hallmarks of these styles are clean lines, simple and functional design, and mortise and tenon joinery. The traditional wood for this furniture is quarter-sawn white oak with walnut or ebony accents.
I’ve also built many projects from quarter-sawn red oak as well as quarter-sawn and plain-sawn cherry, and plain-sawn hickory. Cherry is a beautiful wood for Arts & Crafts furniture. The hallmark cathedral grain and rich color soften the lines of a piece and impart a certain elegance and refinement.
The hickory, with bark inclusions, make the pieces seem more rustic. Hickory has one downside – it’s extreme hardness. It is diffucult to work and very hard on my tools.
Currently woodworking is just a hobby; something I do in my limited spare time. I hope to be able to make a living with woodworking someday. Right now that’s just a dream. But what a dream!
